• एक सड़ी मछली सारे तालाब को गंदा कर देती है।
• A rotten apple injures its companions.

• जैसा राजा, वैसी प्रजा।

• होनहार बिरवान के होत चिकने पात।

• संतोषम् परम सुखम्। (संतोष ही परम सुख है।)

• तेते पांव पसारिए जेती लंबी शाल। (उतने ही पैर फैलाओ जितनी जगह हो।)
• Cut your coat according to your cloth.

• अधजल गगरी छलकत जाय।
• An empty vessel makes much noise/ deep rivers move with silence, majesty shallow Brooks are noisy.

• अपने दही को सभी मीठा कहते हैं। (अपने पूत को कोई काना नहीं कहता है।)
• Every Potter praises his pot.

• सावन के अंधे को हरा ही हरा दिखाई पड़ता है।
• Everything looks yellow to a jaundiced eye.

• बेकार से बेगार भली।
• Forced labour is better than idleness.

• बोए पेड़ बबूल का, आम कहां से खाए।
• Gather thistles and expect pickles.

• जाके पैर न फटी बिवाई सो क्या जाने पीर पराई।
• He jests at scares who never felt a wound.

• बिना अपने मरे स्वर्ग नहीं दिखाई पड़ता।
• If you want a thing well done, do it yourself.

• जल में रहकर मगरमच्छ से बैर करना उचित नहीं।
• It is hard to live in Rome and to fight with the Pope.

• मुफलिसी में आटा गीला।
• Misfortunes never come slightly.

• ऊंची दुकान के फीके पकवान।
• Much cry and little wool.

• कानी के ब्याह में 100 जोखिम।
• Many a sip between the cup and the lip.

• आम से टपका बबूल में अटका।

• Out of the frying - pan into the fire.

• अपनी मर्यादा अपने हाथ।
• Respect yourself and you will be respected.

• हथेली पर दही नहीं जमता।
• Rome was not built in a day.

• राई का पर्वत बनाना।
• To make a mountain of a mole - hill.

• दुख में सुमिरन सब करे, सुख में करै न कोय।
• Vows made in Storm are forgotten in calm.

• धोबी का कुत्ता न घर का, न घाट का।
• Whistling maid and crowing hen are neither fit for gods Nor men.

• एक तीर से दो निशाने नहीं लगाए जा सकते।
• One cannot serve the two Masters.

• अंधे के आगे रोये अपने दीदा खोए।
• To throw pearls before a swine.

• अपने मियां मिट्ठू बनना। (खुद की प्रशंसा कोई सिफारिश नहीं होती।)
• Self praise is no recommendation.

• अवसर को हाथ से मत जाने दो। (लोहे पर तब चोट मारो जब यह गर्म हो।)
• Strike the iron while it is hot.

• उल्टे बांस बरेली को।
• To carry coal to a new castle.

• एक पंथ दो काज।  (एक तीर से दो निशाने लगाना।)
• To kill two birds with one stone.

• ओस के चाटे प्यास नहीं बुझती।
• A fog can't be dispelled by fan.

• कल किसने देखा। ( कल कभी नहीं आता। )
• Tomorrow never comes.

• जहां चाह वहां राह।
• where there is a will, there is a way.

• घायल की गति घायल ही जाने। ( पहनने वाले को पता होता है कि जूता कहां चुभता है। )
• Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches.

• चिराग तले अंधेरा। 
• Near the Church farther from God / self evils are always hidden.

• नाच ना जाने आंगन टेढ़ा।
• A bad workman quarrels with his tools.

• डूबते को तिनके का सहारा।
• A drawing man catches at straw.

• 4 दिन की चांदनी फिर अंधेरी रात।
• A Nine Days' wonder.

• चोर की दाढ़ी में तिनका। ( पापी का मन सदा शंकित रहता है। )
• A guilty mind is always suspicious.

• दुनिया में कोई अनाथ नहीं होता।
• None is orphan in this world.

• उम्मीद की किरण जग गई है।
• We have got a hope of ray.

• Good mind, good find.
