Passages for translation ( Part - 4 )

Friends, I have started a series of solved passages for the students of high school. In this series I provide some passages in hindi and English and by reading and making practice, you will be able to translate all types of passages. This is the 4th part of the series. So let's begin without wasting the time..... 

Exercise - 1

अच्छे बालक अपने बड़ों का सम्मान करते हैं । वे बुरे कार्यों से घृणा करते हैं। वे अपना कार्य परिश्रम और ईमानदारी से पूरा करने का प्रयास करते हैं। वह चिंता रहित जीवन व्यतीत करते हैं। वे अपने देश व समाज से प्यार करते हैं। अच्छे बालक अपने छोटों से प्यार करते हैं। तुम्हें भी पर्यावरण को बचाने के लिए वृक्ष लगाने चाहिए। क्या तुम ऐसा करने का वचन देते हो? 

Good boys respect their elders. They hate evil deeds. They try to complete their work diligently and honestly. They lead carefree life.they love their country and Society. Good boys love their youngsters. You should also plant trees to protect the environment. Do you promise to do so? 

Exercise - 2

जेम्स सिंपसन एक महान वैज्ञानिक थे। वे   एक शल्य चिकित्सक थे और ऑपरेशन के दौरान अपने सीनियर डॉक्टरों की मदद किया करते थे। उन्होंने देखा कि ऑपरेशन के दौरान मरीजों को असहनीय पीड़ा होती है। ऑपरेशन के दौरान मरीजों को मेज से बांध दिया जाता था। सिम्पसन ने निर्णय किया कि वह एक दर्द निवारक दवा की खोज करेंगे। उन्होंने क्लोरोफॉर्म नामक एक द्रव की खोज की। इसके प्रयोग से व्यक्ति कुछ समय के लिए बेहोश हो जाता है। आज गंभीर ऑपरेशन के दौरान क्लोरोफॉर्म को अचेत करने वाली दवा के रूप में प्रयोग किया जाता है।

James Simpson was a great scientist. He was a surgeon and assisted his senior surgeon during the surgical operations. He noticed that patients suffered an unbearable pain while they were operated on. Patients were tied to the operation table during the operation. Simpson decided that he would discover a painkiller. He found out a liquid called chloroform. By using it, a person becomes unconscious for sometime. Today chloroform is used as an anaesthetic when a serious operation is performed.

Exercise - 3

एक बार एक व्यापारी ने एक नौकर रखा। नौकर बहुत सच्चा था। जो काम कोई नहीं कर सकता उसको कर देता था। वह सदा प्रसन्न रहता था। 1 वर्ष बीत गया किंतु व्यापारी ने उसे वेतन नहीं दिया। नौकर ने भी अपना वेतन नहीं मांगा और सच्चाई तथा ईमानदारी से काम करता रहा। दूसरा वर्ष भी बीत गया किंतु व्यापारी ने उसे कुछ नहीं दिया। 2 वर्ष बाद व्यापारी ने उसे ₹1000 वेतन के रूप में दे दिया। नौकर प्रसन्नतापूर्वक अपने घर चला गया।

Once a businessman employed a servant. The servant was very true. He did that work which could not be done by anyone. He always lived happy. A year passed but the Businessman did not pay his salary. The servant also did not ask for his salary and went on working with truth and honesty. The second year passed too but the Businessman gave him nothing. After two years, he gave him 1000 rupees as a salary. The servant left for his home happily. 

Exercise - 4

रात अंधेरी थी। 12:00 बजे थे। कुत्ते भी नहीं भौंक रहे थे। मैं गहरी नींद में था। यकायक एक जोर की आवाज ने मुझे जगा दिया। जागने पर मैंने देखा कि बहुत से लोग एक ही ओर भागे जा रहे हैं। कुछ लोग अपने हाथों में लाठी लिए हुए थे जबकि दूसरे लोग खाली हाथ जा रहे थे। कुछ लोग पानी लिए जा रहे थे। कुछ देर तक मैं समझ ना सका कि क्या बात है? शीघ्र ही आसमान में बहुत सा धुआं और प्रकाश दिखाई पड़ा। एक मकान में आग लग गयी गई थी। घर के सब लोग भाग गए थे परंतु एक मां अपने बच्चे को लिए जल मरी थी। 

It was a dark night. It is 12 o'clock in the night. Even the dogs were not barking. I was taking a sound sleep. All of a sudden, a loud sound awoke me. On awaking, I saw that many people were running in one direction. Some of them had sticks in their hands while others were going bare handed and some of them were going with water. For sometime I could not understand what what the matter was. Soon I saw much smoke and light in the sky. A house had caught fire. All the residents of the house had run away but a mother with her baby had burnt.
